This has drawn us to areas that span the biosphere: climate, oceans, ecosystems and health. Since these topics are intertwined, our solutions take a multidisciplinary approach. We work in concert with other organizations — as well as with business, government and communities — and avoid duplicating work already being done effectively by others.

They help keep me in the loop regarding issues on the front line of the environmental movement. Thanks so much for all you do!!! I'm the guy behind the chainsaw, using mowers, herbicide and fire to maintain the habitat I restore.

I'm there watching when the rare plants and animals recover quickly from the sixth mass extinction. Please invest heavily in boots on the ground habitat restoration coupled with local land managers with intimate knowledge of the places they protect.

No matter how much humans disagree, we are animals and part of the ecological aspects of the planet. EDF's role in using the courts to protect nature - along with its research and other resources - give voice to the voiceless: the wildlife, plants, sea life and environment.

Thank you EDF. Rating: 4. I have to say that with so much change happening in the world, most of it bad it seems, one has to choose their battles. My biggest concern is animal welfare, so I donate to important animal welfare groups. Animals are treated incredibly badly. But I feel that Environmental Defense Fund is a logical extension of my concern. It broadens the goal to other vitally important concerns that affect both animals and the human animal.

Plus, they seem to accomplish a lot with the tools they have. As a child I learned that trust needs to be earned and that even the most honorable and noble of intentions can be turned into something parasitic to humanity. And after all the research I have done on EDF and the, more often shady than not, spending practices of major nonprofits. EDF has my trust. They do good work the honorable way for the benefit of humanity and nature.

Its a shame organizations such as this go unnoticed. Melody S. Sign up for EDF and be on the forefront of breaking environmental news and legislative action. Support a moratorium on fracking until it can be proven to be safe.

Please vote in all elections, don't be lax -- this is the best tool of the people and we need to stand united. You can make a difference! It seems to me I have supported the work of EDF all my life, but I am older than they are, I believe; so that can't be true.

I think they are truly one of the treasures of the world and the work they do is vital to educating us all in the precious resource we have and what we need to do to preserve it. Their activism stands between extinction and the world today which seems hellbent on production and development with the environment be damned.

I signed some petitions and realized the world needs EDF. We are polluting the world and killing off the wildlife and we need to stop before it is too late. As an aging outdoors-men, the time I put in politically, has become a important burden! Please hear me out. In this day and age, a "staged rally" for the numerous issue's, one can not be physically be everywhere all the time. EDF makes it possible to keep up with all issue's important to everybody's well being.

Just by sitting on your butt! They fill out the monotonous ballot issue's for you, and make it easy to do the right thing! Voice your opinion. I hate to say it, but it's getting to the point that I can trust the "ballot direction" EDF is behind and not read it for myself!!! Never do that anyone; but that's my voting record with them us. And, if you think the environment is holding it's own, think again. We are in the pretense of the next ice age.

If you can't fight for the next 20 generations, then try reading a book. The discipline of keeping my 69 y. Let's give nasty corporations the evil eye and 'the finger'. We live on a dying planet. It may be already too late to save it, but we must try. The EDF appears to be at the forefront of these efforts to save ourselves. Humans want to do the right thing, but they need better education as to the inherent dangers of continuing on the path we are on.

We must get rid of the current corruption of campaign finance in which the bribery of both Parties by the ultra wealthy rules. This will not be easy, and we must be prepared for defeat. We must convince the ultra wealthy that they cannot survive, either, unless they change their selfish ways. We must not allow our only home to be destroyed. There is no escape. I have contributed to EDF for 20 years because i am grateful to them for standing up to business interests and others who would degrade our planet.

I am relieved that they are able to do the work of protection that I cannot. Their expertise and passion in guarding the environment allows me to sleep at night! Catrina Y. EDF helps me keep up to date with the most important enviromental causes. I love how I get emails with the petitions to sign and all the required information is already filled out for me; I just need to put my signature on it and it will go directly to my district representatives.

In my everyday fight with people who ignore the importance iof taking care of our environment, EDF has become in one more tool I use to educate the ones around me who need to understand the vital concepts of ecological balance and sustainability.

Thank you EDF and keep the good work!!!! In a field that is often dominated by high-minded, but impractical idealism, EDF stands out as taking concrete steps to protect the environment and its ecosystems--a very effective use of your donation dollars! We have many fronts and many ungencues to attend. The importance of our message be transmitted promptly, and must compete with others such as pollution, food, deforestation, exploitation, war, destruction and other occupying the concern of what will future generations.

Much success. Have a nice day with lots of laughter. Not everyone can physically or monetarily help such an important issue as our planet and the life that makes it the place we've all come to love. Organizations such as EDF allows those of us to become armchair warriors for that that we believe in but sending letters, making phone calls and writing letters to those that seem hell bent on destroying our world. Grassroots organizations like this makes the absolute best out of what they have and utilize all help they get, in whatever form it comes in.

It's people like this that is our future and am so happy that there are so many that care enough to fight for it. I have always been an advocate for environmental issues and have worked in the field employed by the EPA and The State of Nebraska as an environmental specialist and an inspector. I have also taught environmental science in high school and college. My students told me I was a "Debbie Downer" about environmental issues but by the end of my courses they sincerely thanked me for what I taught and how they would use their education to further act on environmental issues.

I am a member of several wildlife and environmental groups and this organization is one more that promotes such information and advocacy. Keep up the good work! Tom Newton. Rating: 3.
