Obvious the secret to getting rich is not in here as the stock market is a gamble, but for someone who knew nothing at all about the stock market this was a very easy and informative read. Great starting point and it mentions books and place to go for further education.

It serves as a good primer on how to judge a company's stock, and covers the basics of investing and terminology. But he really emphasizes stock picking, despite the fact that stock picking is a pretty discredited investing strategy.

The writing is also very redundant. Read this to learn the abc's, then read any other book to learn actual investing strategies. I feel like this book could've gone more in depth. A lot of what this book covers could likely be found by searching "Stock investing basics" and reading FREE online articles on the subject. In other words, don't invest in this book on investing. I usually don't bother to write reviews, but I was so impressed with this one that I felt I had to share.

I generally like the Dummies books. They usually accomplish their goal of explaining a topic in easy to understand terms, and this is important to me. I found this to be very true for this book. I knew nothing about the stock market and figured it was about time to find out.

This book explained not only the basics but even some more advanced concepts in a very easy to understand manner. Good value. Kudos to the author. First book that I've read that explains the stock market and investing in stocks. There is a lot to learn and some of it can be quite complicated but I appreciate Paul's explanations and his sense of humor. Great little reference book to refer back to in understanding the terms and strategies of stock market investing because there is a lot to absorb and understand.

I even started to a binder for all my notes. Great book to get started with. Very helpful. I refer to it often. This book will stop you from going broke "if" you read it and abide by it. How much you make off of investments is definitely a very individual, no story will be the same, type of experience.

No two people or portfolios are the same. No two people are ready at the same time. But when you are, it's an excellent pick up for the price and I doubt you'll be disappointed. I get more confident and excited with every chapter. Best investment I've made yet even though I already own a few stocks. I regret not reading this book before I made my initial investment. This book should have been my initial investment. I'm pretty sure I'd be hundreds of dollars ahead, if not a couple thousand.

You will go back and check it out again. I recommend it. It is a very useful book that introduces the reader to the stock exchange in simple words.
